Clayton Bailey Sr.

Mr. Clayton Bailey Sr., 85, of Covington, died Dec. 1 at Embracing Hospice, Snellville. The son of the late Judson Bonner and Irma Hardman Bailey, he was born in Newton County. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Bailey was a member of Porterdale Presbyterian Church and attended Porterdale Baptist Church. He was retired from Mobil Chemical and enjoyed working around the house, gardening and anything to do with his two grandsons. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Bailey loved spending time with his family.

Surviving are wife of 54 years Bernice Bailey of Covington; daughter Betty Bailey of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Clayton (Clay) W. Jr and Kim Bailey of Lawrenceville; grandsons Private 1st Class Clayton (Trey) W. Bailey III of Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., Lance Corp. Charles (Charlie) W. Bailey of Kitsap Naval Base, Bangor, Silverdale, Washington Postal District.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 5, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road with the Rev. Dickie Johnson, the Rev. Sidney Bailey and Dr. Craig Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial park.
