The Rev. Claude Grant died Oct. 18 in Rockdale County. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred (Rosalyn) Mitchell, he was born in 1924 in Jamaica, West Indies. A private and humble person, the Rev. Grant was a pastor, historian, scholar and true believer in God. His favorite sayings were "The greatest achievement you can make in your existence is to be received in the Kingdom of heaven" and "No matter what you have or do in life, you have to make things right with God." His favorite questions of others was "How is your prayer life?"

A private graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Oct. 20 at New Covington Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Swaney officiating.
