Clara L. "Doll" Dunn Rogers

Mrs. Clara L. "Doll" Dunn Rogers died Sept. 10. The daughter of the late Willie Dunn and Estelle Griggs, she was born in 1929 in Putnam County. She was preceded in death by husband Mr. Bishop Hosley Rogers Sr., son Mr. Johnny Lorenzo Spearman, grandson Mr. Rodney Bernard Rogers and five brothers. She joined Midway CME Church, Shady Dale, at an early age. Affectionately called Mother, Mrs. Rogers was a loving and kind-hearted person.

Surviving are children Mrs. Cathalene McKnight, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel (Helen) Spearman, Ms. Ann Spearman, Mr. Bishop Rogers Jr., Mr. Jerry Rogers, adopted son Mr. Eddie Marvin Rogers, Mr. Estrelle Young; sisters Mrs. Evelyn Turk, Mrs. Carolyn Dunn, Mrs. Annie Parks, Mrs. Mamie Kemp; brothers-in-law Mr. James Rogers, Mr. William Rogers; 16 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; devoted granddaughter Ms. Cheryl McKnight; devoted nieces Clara L. Dunn, Estella Wych, Juanita Glover; devoted friends Mrs. Darlene Strong, Mr. Clarence Price, Mrs. Gwendolyn Benton, Ms. Barbara Bell; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at Midway CME Church, Shady Dale, with the Rev. Bernard Moore and the Rev. Willie Davis presiding. Interment followed in the New Covington Cemetery.
