Beverly H. DuVall, 61, died Jan. 3 at Heartland Hospice in Conyers after a short illness. Born Oct. 14, 1946, in Columbus, she attended undergraduate school at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. and Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., where she graduated summa cum laude. She received additional degrees from Georgia State University and the University of Georgia. Most of her professional life was in the field of education. She retired from the Newton County School System in 2006 and then taught an additional year at Young Americans Christian School in Conyers. She was an active member of Eastridge Community Church.

Surviving are her husband, David DuVall; daughter and son-in-law Haley and Tim Plunkett of Douglasville, son, Loyd Alexander of Auburn, Ala.; granddaughter, Maya Plunkett; mother, Florence Haines; sister, Barbara Alexander of Covington; brother, Walter Haines of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held yesterday at Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington.
