Both the Alcovy boys and girls varsity basketball squads are each seeking their first win of the season tonight against the visiting Jackson County Panthers.
In their season opener, the boys lost a disappointing heartbreaker to Clarke Central, 44-38. However, last year the Tigers defeated Jackson County, 50-42.
The Panthers (1-3) are coming off a devastating loss to Rockdale County, 84-40. Entering today, Jackson County is averaging 45.5 points per game, while allowing 70.1 in four contests. In fact, the average margin of loss is 38.3 points per game.
For the girls, the Lady Tigers (0-2) were blown out by Salem in their season debut, 77-29. Things didn't fare any better during their next game against Clarke Central, as they were annihilated, 81-28.
Last season the Lady Tigers lost 50-37 to the Lady Panthers.
Thus far, the Lady Tigers are averaging 28.5 points per game while allowing 79 in two games. Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers (3-1) are averaging 53.5 points per game while allowing 48.
