CLARKSTON, Ga. (AP) - A Covington man now faces charges of vehicular homicide in the death of a 6-year-old girl.

Gregory Armwood turned himself in to the DeKalb County Jail on Thursday morning. He is being held on $1,000 bond and is also charged with failure to exercise due care.

Suk Maya Monger died on Tuesday after she was struck by an SUV that authorities say passed a MARTA bus on the wrong side of the road on East Ponce de Leon Avenue in DeKalb County. She and her mother had just gotten off the bus.

Armwood was initially charged with illegally passing on a double yellow line. The International Rescue Committee had relocated the family to Clarkston from Nepal less than two weeks ago.

Suk Maya is scheduled to be cremated on Thursday afternoon in a private ceremony.
