COVINGTON, Ga. -

The Rotary Club of Covington was happy to host Jake McCarthy, a Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) attendee at its July 18 meeting. McCarthy was sponsored to attend RYLA by the Rotary E-Club of the South and club members enjoyed hearing his stories from the program and watching the video that went along with the presentation.

“My only complaint is that it didn’t last longer,” McCarthy said.”

RYLA is a Rotary International-sanctioned program for young adults who are identified as potential leaders in their community. Students are sponsored by Rotary clubs. This year, 36 clubs sponsored 76 students.

District 6910 has facilitated a RYLA Camp at Talullah Falls School for more than 16 years where high school students receive intensive training in team building activities, leadership qualities and pushing themselves to their full potential.

Covington Rotarian Doug Bolton was the District RYLA Chair, appointed by District Governor Kim Waters for 2017.
