Porterdale annexes property

PORTERDALE, Ga. - The City of Porterdale grew by 49.6 acres, more or less, July 3 after the City Council voted unanimously to annex six tracts of land into the city.

One annexation involves two tracts of property owned by the Newton County Water and Sewer  Authority totaling 42.58 acres, more or less, located on Riverfront Road. The property is zoned AG-G (Agricultural/Public Utility).

The second annexation involves 7.02 acres, more or less, on Washington Street. The four annexed tracts are a 0.68 acre tract located at 10152 Washington Street owned by Rio Land & Investment Company, a 3.2 acre tract located at 10159 Washington Street, a 0.88 acre tract located at 10129 Washington Street and a 2.26 acre tract located at 10145 Washington Street all owned by HCH 1000, LLC. The property is zoned C-G (General Commercial).

The council also approved an ordinance clarifying the hours establishments licensed to sell alcohol for consumption on premises must have tables and bars cleared of the drinks.  The new ordinance says that bars and restaurants must remove all alcoholic beverages which have been served to customers from tables, bars and all other service hours within 30 minutes of the cessation of sales.

Bars and restaurants in Porterdale with a license to pour drinks can do so through 12 a.m. Monday –Thursday, and 1:45 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
