Covington City Council July 17 meeting agenda

COVINGTON, Ga. - Previously The Covington News reported that the Covington City Council would hold the first reading of the proposed alcohol ordinances at its Monday, July 17 council meeting. According to the meeting agenda, provided by the city July 12, the ordinances are not on the agenda.

Previously, during the council's July 3 work session, the council agreed the drafted ordinances were a good place to start. Councilmembers would have the opportunity to bring changes to the drafted ordinances during the first and second reading. If council also has the opportunity to vote for or against the ordinances during either the first or second reading.

Covington Mayor Ronnie Johnston told The News Monday, Councilmembers Josh McKelvey and Michael Whatley will not be present at tonight's meeting and he decided to pull the ordinances off the agenda until the full council could be present. He said the plan is to put it on the Aug. 7 meeting agenda, but is subject to change.
