Armed robbery reported at Newton High School


COVINGTON, Ga. - The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) is investigating a reported armed robbery at Newton High School Friday.

According to the NCSO incident report, a deputy was notified by school staff May 5 that a student was robbed at gunpoint in a school restroom. The school is located at 1 Ram Way.

According to the report, one juvenile was arrested in connection with the incident. A NCSO spokesperson said there are others involved.

Newton County School System (NCSS) Director of Public Relations Sherri Davis-Viniard said in a statement that in addition to criminal charges, the student will be disciplined according to rules in the student code of conduct.
