Armed robbery reported in Covington


COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) investigators are looking for two people responsible for robbing a Covington gas station late Sunday night.

According to a NCSO incident report, deputies responded to the Pure Gas Station located at 50 Morningside Drive shortly before midnight May 7 on a report of a robbery in progress.

On arrival, a deputy reportedly observed cash on the ground in front of the door. According to the report, the clerk told the deputy two young males, wearing all black with blue gloves entered the store and took money from the cash register.  One of the males reportedly dropped the cash on the floor as they were leaving. The suspects exited the store in an unknown direction.

According to the report, a gun was involved in the incident. There were no injuries reported.
