Severe storm advisory

Severe storms are blowing through the area tonight until 9:15 p.m. with winds and wind gusts of 40 mph.

The National Weather Service posted a significant weather advisory for 40 mph winds in the following counties: Troup, Spalding Newton, Monroe, Meriwether, Lamar, Butts, Coweta, Heard, Henry and Jasper.

NWS Doppler radar showed strong thunderstorms moving southeast at 40 mph from seven miles northeast of McDonough to Hampton to Franklin.

Forty-mile per hour wind gusts are likely as storms move across the following counties: Troup, Spalding, Pike, Newton, Monroe, Meriwether, Lamar, Butts, Coweta, Heard, Henry and Jasper.
