News stories, while great at reporting facts (we hope), cannot convey the vocal inflections or body language of a candidate who is vying for public office and has to respond to a public question in front of the public. For example a news report that a candidate claims he supports an issue would not reveal that he stammered, rolled his eyes and crossed his fingers before hesitantly saying so.
