While Porterdale’s work session on Thursday was business as usual, an eruption at the close of the meeting stirred emotions from a long brewing feud over the Community Assistance Relief Effort’s ability to hold charitable events on city property and collect donations through residents’ water bill.

Together again: Former and current Porterdale residents came together Saturday for the eighth annual Porterdale Reunion. Old photos and other memorabilia were on display, and residents and guests alike poured over them sharing stories. Aug. 23-28 declared “B.C. Crowell Week”
A single story couldn’t contain the life of B.C. Crowell, and the leaders of Porterdale decided a single day just wasn’t enough time to honor him. Porterdale paid tribute to one of its most famous sons Friday, when Mayor Bobby Hamby signed a proclamation declaring the upcoming week of Aug. 23-28 as "B.C. Crowell Week."

Porterdale approves 4 mill increase
Porterdale City Council members approved a 4 mill increase over the rollback rate to 17.518 at a special called meeting Tuesday night. At Porterdale City Council's regular meeting Monday night several community residents braved torrential rain and lightning to voice their concerns about the millage rate hike during a public hearing.

Porterdale increases water/sewer rates, set to increase millage rate
At Porterdale City Council's regular meeting Monday night members voted to pass along an increase in wholesale water rates to town residents. Information about the new rates will go out in residents' next water bills. The council also approved lowering the minimum amount charged to 2,000 gallons from 3,000 gallons.
