Martha B. Griffith of Loganville, passed away February 3, 2010, at the age of 81. Mrs. Griffith was a lifelong resident of Newton and Walton Counties, and was of the Christian faith. You always knew where you stood with her, as she was a very outspoken lady. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Red was a favorite color of Mrs. Griffith, and she was often recognized by her red clothing. Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her children’s father, Robert Manley Banks; second husband, John Lewis Griffith; daughter, Deborah Ann Banks; sons, Tim Banks, Robert Cleveland (Bob) Banks; granddaughter, Kelly Darlene Banks; and her parents, Samuel and Ada Watkins Beam. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Victor Smith, Martha Lynn Cantrell and Tim Shannon, all of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, William Boyd and Kitty Banks, Mark Allen and Tammy Banks, all of Covington, Michael Gerry and Teresa Banks of Social Circle, Randy Scott Banks of Loganville; sisters and brother-in-law, Lucile McClain, Eula and Bo Thompson of Franklin, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnny and Barbara Beam, Oscar and Betty Beam, all of Covington; grandchildren, Angela Paige Wilcox, Bambi Ann Oglesby, Mandy Banks, Christy Cantrell, Amy Cantrell, Alanna Banks, Mark Banks, Bryan Oglesby, Jody Banks; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Griffith will be held Friday, February 5, 2010, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., in Covington, with Wayne Durden and Jeff Russell Cantrell officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
