Are you a faithful follower?

"As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem." (Lk) 9:51 Jesus is looking for faithful followers. He is not interested in hearing people "say" they want to follow.

We still have work to do...

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me. He has sent me to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to liberate the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Who do me say Jesus is?

Who do men say Jesus is? Well there are many answers to that question in our world today. Jesus asked the disciples this question and even in His day there was a variety of answers. But then came two very pointed questions from Jesus: Who do YOU say I am? And What difference does it make? Many today give "churchy" answers like, "Jesus is Lord." But as H.A. Ironside once said, "If Jesus isn't Lord of all, He isn't Lord at all." So is He really your "Lord"? Some may say, "Jesus is my savior" But frankly ...

Dale: 400 years of authority

This year marks the 400th anniversary of King James of England authorizing the translation of the Bible commonly known as the King James Version. He commissioned six committees (42 men, no women) to come up with a common translation of the Bible that would be the standard text of the realm. Their work began in 1604 and was completed in 1611.

Grace Notes: The fire in a Christian’s heart!

Grace Notes: Do not be afraid!

Last week, we noticed the difference between the soldiers (Jesus' enemies) and the women (Jesus' friends) at the tomb that first Easter Sunday morning. The soldiers fainted in fear. The women listened to God's word and found joy. Here's Matthew 28:5: "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."

Grace Notes: Do not be afraid!

Franklin Delano Roosevelt said that "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Yeah right. Try telling that to the man being mauled by a bear, or the woman about to be hit by a car, or anyone facing a life-threatening danger. Just telling them they don't have to fear it doesn't quite do the job.

Grace Notes: "I told you so"

As childish as it sounds, you hear that refrain repeatedly in the Passion History, the story of Jesus' suffering and death that takes center stage during Lent.
