Equipping the saints with music

At a time when most children are asked to race through childhood, one local songwriter is helping them strengthen their faith along the way. Colleen Capes Jackson's newly released album and vacation Bible school program, "I'm a Champion," invites young listeners to dance along as they worship the Lord.

Jackson, a regular contributor to The Covington News, Alcovy Magazine and national publications, has focused on her personal journey of faith to equip children in their walk with God. Changing, charging Mansfield

Established in 1911, Mansfield Baptist Church is a fellowship of believers who strive to be a blessing to the community by sharing the unconditional love of Christ. In 2006, they moved from their former location at the corner of Main Street and 3rd Avenue to a 21-acre campus at 101 Woodlawn Road in Mansfield. Within months, the land was debt free and they completed phase one of their four-phase building plan. The new facility houses a 340-seat sanctuary, office suites and wings dedicated to children and preschool, adults and youth.

Fall festivities at Salem UMC

Salem United Methodist Church consistently looks for ways to put their mission statement into action - to experience God's love, share God's love and grow in God's love. For the past fifty years, the Salem Barbecue has been a successful fundraiser and community event, normally held during the summer in conjunction with the Snapping Shoals EMC annual meeting. When the EMC moved their event to the Georgia International Horse Park, Salem UMC chose to move the Barbecue to the fall and add events.

Odell and Leah Caldwell have spent a lifetime of ministering to others out of their overflowing love for Christ. They have worked tirelessly, endured hardships and continue to make themselves available for any task in their golden years - whether it is cleaning the church or supporting events.
