Just a thought: marriage

Marriage is hard work. It doesn't always feel like work, but let's be honest, every couple experiences tough times. So, here are a few things to consider: first, being different is OK. After all, you are two "individuals." If you were both the same, one of you wouldn't be necessary. Use your difference to your advantage by being one another's completers. Second, wives are to love and give honor to their husbands and husbands are ...

Love speaks passionately

"What would you do-oo-oo for a Klondike bar?" Have you seen the ads? The guy challenged to listen to his wife instead of looking at the big game on the TV...and then a wife had to actually choose to go see an action movie. The ice cream had better be good, right?

Elvis’ Bible

Elvis Presley's bible sold at a U.K. auction last week for a prodigious $94,600. The Bible was given to Elvis on his first Christmas at Graceland in 1957. He used the Bible until his death on Aug. 16, 1977. The Bible was only expected to sell for around $40,000 but interests peaked in the old Bible because of the many notes and marks made by the famous singer. These notes tell a lot about Elvis' faith and interaction with God.

Burnham: Losing your worship

Have you ever lost something under the sofa? You know that feeling you get when you drop something and it rolls (almost as if in slow motion) right up under there? Down we go scrambling on our hands and knees (with a flashlight or broom handle) in search of that lost item. Oh, I wish God's people would go in search of their worship that way. You may say, "My worship isn't lost, I go ...

Overcoming life’s hurts

One thing the world seems unlikely to ever run out of is broken people. And as long as they exist, there will be a need for Celebrate Recovery, the Christian answer to the 12-step program.
