Prayer service for Baltimore April 29 by pastors' network

The local pastors network, the Interdenominational Movement for Pastoral Accountability, Collaboration and Training (IMPACT), formerly PACT, is calling for a Unity Prayer Service for the City of Baltimore, its leadership and its churches during their state of emergency in the aftermath of the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. The prayer service will be tonight, Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church, 1877 Iris Drive.
A letter sent to pastors invited all to the prayer service and for those who could not attend to pray from their own churches.

Pancake Day(?)

Most people may see pancakes as a delicious flat cake that we devour with some syrup, but did you know that it has some religious significance to it? Shrove Tuesday, or known as Pancake Day, uses pancakes to celebrate the last day of Carnival, Mardi Gras and preceding Lent. Pancakes are usually associated with Shrove Tuesday because it was a way for people to give up certain foods like eggs, milk, flour and sugar for Lent.

Kwanzaa: Honoring community

It was during the peak of the civil rights movement that the cultural holiday of Kwanza was born. Unlike other similar holidays such as Hanukah and Christmas, Kwanzaa is not based upon religious association.
