Letter: Jesus’ love is it
More than 2,000 years ago, God's precious son Jesus Christ was sent to our world for the salvation of all races and nations. Our holy and heavenly God gave everyone the chance to make the ultimate decision: to select Jesus as the Lord and Savior of our souls. It is our decision to choose Jesus. His love is it.

Mockery of intellect
Dear Editor: Unbelievable is the best word I can conjure to describe a myriad of thoughts and emotions I experienced when I looked at the Wednesday, November 5, 2008 edition of The Covington News. A defining moment in history was totally downplayed as if it didn't matter. What a sad commentary for your newspaper and your reporting of national/world news.
What about the children?
My son is very sick - he has TBI, CP and SBS. He needs therapy badly and our government has denied him. They say as long as he is chronic, not acute, he does not qualify. If my son doesn't get the therapy he needs his muscles will become basically mush, he will never get better.
Profound gratitude
Dear Editor: On behalf of all the senior citizens of Newton County I would like to say thanks to the voters who made it possible for the $10,000 increase in seniors' homestead exemption which will take effect on Jan. 1, 2009.
