Letter: Jesus’ love is it
More than 2,000 years ago, God's precious son Jesus Christ was sent to our world for the salvation of all races and nations. Our holy and heavenly God gave everyone the chance to make the ultimate decision: to select Jesus as the Lord and Savior of our souls. It is our decision to choose Jesus. His love is it.

Wasteful spending
Dear Editor: Today, one out of every two people in this country is living in poverty. Forty-six million are living on food stamps. Two out every five are living below the poverty line. As a matter of fact, worldwide 1.4 billion of us live on less than $1.25 a day; 25,000 children die daily because of poverty.
Celebrate freedom
Dear Editor: In the midst of gatherings of family and friends, fireworks, cookouts and other 4th of July celebrations, it was good to read The Covington News' emphasis on Independence Day. Dear Editor: We want to thank Hobby Lobby for getting all the information together in the article, "In God we trust," and The Covington News for featuring it in the July 4 paper. That information was just what we needed in these times when so many of our leaders seem to be moving away from our heritage. Eyesores and code enforcement
Dear Editor: I cannot for the life of me understand why the taxpayers allow the city of Covington to selectively enforce the codes. On one occasion, I asked why a complete remodel of a structure two blocks from the code offices did not have a building permit. It was under construction for the better part of a year and every official who works for the city had to have passed it every day.
Board of Education
Dear Editor: I am troubled by the actions of the BOE regarding efforts for teaching Christian principles. Statements by the petitioners and some members of the board indicated that nothing would be required except permission. If there is no involvement of the education system then why appear before the board? By simply doing it after school hours and off campus, then all potential issues are avoided.
