Our thoughts on what to do with Nelson Heights

The Newton County Board of Commissioners had a lively debate this past week about what to do after a May 30 party at the Nelson Heights Community Center was marred by a gun reportedly being fired into the air by a passing car and hours of people milling about in the streets afterward.

Our thoughts on Memorial Day

"The United States and the freedom, for which it stands, the freedom for which they died, must endure and prosper. Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. Good for positive growth

We are anxious to see what good work the newly established Covington Redevelopment Authority will accomplish in its formative years.

The goals of the CRA are lofty, but we think if even one of them can be accomplished within the next few years, it will be a great success and make the city even more enjoyable and accommodating. Candidate Obama repeatedly called the war in Iraq "a dangerous distraction" from the fight we should be waging and promised to "tak(e) the fight to al-Qaida in Afghanistan and Pakistan." But with a new poll out showing that a majority of Americans now think the war in Afghanistan ...
