Dust off your fairy wings, your bejeweled headdresses and safari vests and return to Chimney Park Saturday, May 5, for the fourth annual Fairy House Festival sponsored by Friends of Newton Parks. The springtime event attracts hundreds of young and old alike who get into the swing of things by dressing up as their inner child. Or, come as you are and people-watch the day away in the enchanted forest behind the Newton County Library on Floyd Street.
Cycling around: Bicyclists lined up at the Newton County Historic Courthouse on May 3 for the first of a series of monthly bicycle rides through Covington orgnaized by the Covington-Conyers Cycling Club, Main Street Covington and the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce. The rides start at 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and riders meet at the Historic Courthouse steps. All riders are required to wear a helmet and children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Elected officials from Newton and Rockdale Counties will again join the Covington Conyers Cycling Club (C4) and Conte's Bicycles and Fitness Equipment of Conyers for the fourth annual Georgia Rides to the Capitol event on Tuesday, March 3.
In honor of those who have served and who are serving in the U.S. armed forces, Operation Sandbox and American Legion members have partnered to present a Support Our Troops Bike Ride and Festival Saturday.
