On Feb. 26, 2014, James Coggins Jr. and Ola Lee Coggins will celebrate their 70-year wedding anniversary. The Cogginses have lived in the Covington area for the past 89 years. During their 70-year marriage, they had two children, Sherry and Jimmy Coggins. James and Ola Lee also have four grandchildren: Jamie Coggins, Christie Lindsey, Samantha Odum and Kyle Coggins. Their legacy includes 10 great-grandchildren, and two more via adoption.
Eddie and Mary Baker celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 20. Their family would like to extend the following message: "You have proven that love, respect and consideration for each other are the ingredients to a long, successful relationship. In the midst of building your own lives together, you have been exemplary parents, grandparents and the cornerstone of our family. Mr. and Mrs. Edward R. Needham celebrated their 60th wedding wnniversary on March 24. The children of the couple hosted a celebration dinner on the evening of May 7 in honor of their parents' "Diamond Wedding Anniversary." Guests included all of the couple's grandchildren, along with close friends of the family.
Doug and Lana Mitchell Bailey of Conyers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 4. Sons Shane and Slade held a reception at their parents' home for friends and family. The couple have three sons, Scott, Shane and Slade.
The Rev. Hugh and Pat Pope celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 19 with a reception at the Garden Plaza in Lawrenceville. More than 100 friends and family members came to celebrate with them. The event was hosted by their son and daughter-in-law the Rev. Mylon and Amy Pope of Middleburg, Fla., and daughter and son-in-law Tim and Dawn Hunter of Covington, and grandchildren Josh Hunter of Paz River, Md. (US Navy), and Zack Hunter of Atlanta and Jonathan and Beth Pope of Middleburg. The Popes were married June 18, 1960 in Roanoke, Va. They pastored churches in South Carolina ...
Floyd and Leigh Ann Roberts celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on May 24. Their church, The Baptist Church of Between, hosted a "Silver Anniversary Reception" on May 23, where they celebrated with family and friends. They were married in 1985, by Dr. R. Hudson Moody at The Baptist Tabernacle in Covington, and their 25 years of marriage have been blessed by God with six wonderful children and countless precious memories.
