At the end of every football season the Newton County Recreation Department's cheerleading program hosts a cheerleading competition and this year it will be on Saturday, November 1 beginning at 10 a.m.

Sponsorship of the 2014 B. C. Crowell Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament provides you and your company with an economical vehicle for advertising, as well as, supporting B. C.'s on-going commitment to the education of the youth in Newton County. Two scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded to a student, annually from the local high schools: Alcovy High, Eastside High and/or Newton High. The Scholarship Fund has a local board and is administered by The Community Foundation.
On Saturday, Oct. 4, 10 of Rockdale Youth Soccer Association's (RYSA) finest will be leaving the U.S. and traveling to Haiti for a seven-day mission trip. The group will be providing soccer day camps for children, school supplies, feeding a village and many other things. RYSA needs help to collect items they will need to make this trip a success for the children of Haiti.

The Indian Creek Open is back. After a one-year hiatus, the tournament returns to Ashton Hills for the 10th time.
