The Newton County Recreation 7-8 All-Star football team played in the Gridiron Bowl Saturday, Nov. 22 and beat Macon United in two blow-out games. The score of the first game was 14-0 and the second game was under the lights of Homer Sharp Stadium as Newton County won 25-0. The team played in Macon this weekend for their next tournament where they will play five or six teams in attempt to bring home another trophy. Clingerman, who signed a four-year scholarship to play softball at Emmanuel College on Friday morning, played baseball for three years at Peachtree Academy before the school established a softball team and now she is headed to college with all of the support of her school, friends and family.Clingerman is Peachtree's first signee and Peachtree plans to name their annual signing day going forward, "Riley Clingerman Signing Day."
