The Newton County Recreation Commission held its annual cheerleading competition Saturday at Alcovy High School. Four division champions were crowned. The Bulldogs took the Training League title, edging out a spirited effort from the Tide while the Seminoles captured the Division 1 championship in the second event of the day. In Division 2 it was the group representing the LSU Tigers that took home the first-place trophy, staving off a fierce challenge from the Gators.
