Justice is served

Former Newton defensive end Justice Ejike was the unequivocal leader of the Rams defense in 2009. He was their best player on that side of the ball. He was so good, he also played offensive line. Fast forward two years and he has a new role, one he isn't too familiar with.

Newton basketball shares time with local youths

Former Newton bigman Miller transfers

Former Newton bigman Darius Miller will transfer to Chattahoochee Tech this fall for his second year of basketball after playing at Central Georgia Tech last year. Miller, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound power forward, played for Newton's Final Four team of 2010. He's a defensive specialist that will provide Chattahoochee Tech with a low-post presence and rebounding. Run, Tyler run

For the past two years, nobody in the state has been able to catch Newton track star Tyler Long or his teammates for that matter, at least not in the 4x100 meter relay. And after signing with Campbell University Wednesday, Long's days of running like the wind competitively will continue for the next four years.

That's the spirit

The Newton competition cheerleading squad returned from the National Cheerleading Association cheerleading camp at the University of Georgia last week with some new hardware. In addition, the team earned a berth at the NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship at Dallas in January.
