Rams outshine Eagles

It may have been the most hyped scrimmage in Newton county football history. There were no kickoffs, punt returns, or hits to the quarterbacks but it was football, and more importantly to the community it was Newton vs Eastside. For the first time in two years Newton was back on top and defeated the Eagles 36-23.

Lady Rams dispatch Locust Grove

Newton falls to crosstown rival Rockdale

It just wasn't in the cards for the Newton Lady Rams softball team (10-14 overall, 4-4 Region-2-AAAAA) to end their regular season on a winning note when they faced the Rockdale Lady Bulldogs (9-14-1, 3-6) Region 8B-AAAA) losing by the score of 1-0 at the Earl O ' Neal softball complex Thursday.

Rams seek first region win, face Redan

So far in 2008, Newton has showed flashes of brilliance but has little to show for it. Stuck in the unforgiving Region 2-AAAAA, Ram coach Nick Collins doesn't use that as an excuse. Instead, he continues to work hard in preparation for yet another tough foe Friday when the Rams travel to Panthersville to play Redan.
