Born to compete player of the year Ashton Hagans was presented his award Friday morning at Clements Middle School in front of his entire eighth grade class. With his impeccable year playing basketball, Hagans has gotten a lot of recognition, and although it's deserved, deserve has nothing to do with it.

Currently on a four-game winning streak, Newton baseball finds itself one game below .500 at 8-9 overall with a 5-4 region record. Rams sweep Tigers

Newton added two more wins to its one win total this evening to clinch the season series against Alcovy (3-0) and continue its road to the playoffs. On a beatiful day for a doubleheader, Newton won the first of two games, 10-2 and won the second 10-6.
