Local teams face slate of key games
The three high schools are all in action tonight for the first time in three weeks and while the opponents are different, the agenda is the same. Win. Certainly every football team wants to win every time out but for Eastside, Alcovy and Newton, a win tonight carries significant meaning.

I'm sure down in Tyrone, the euphoria still hasn't worn off.

Eastside's competition cheerleading squad took home the top trophy last Saturday at its opening meet at Morgan County. The Lady Eagles look to keep things going Saturday at Alcovy. Eastside will be one of the county teams participating in a county-wide competition. Along with Alcovy and Eastside, Cousins, Indian Creek and Veterans middle schools will compete.

Eastside survived last week's game against Jackson thanks to a last-second field goal. And while the Eagles may have won that battle, their losing the war of attrition.
Welcome back
Eastside ace Taylor Causey made her return to the mound Tuesday and it's safe to say, things went well. Causey struck out all but the first batter she faced, the offense tallied 15 runs on 13 hits and the Lady Eagles cruised to a 15-0 win over Stockbridge in three innings and snapped a three-game skid in the process.
