Off the schneid
All the Eagles needed to pick up their first win under first-year head coach Gregory Freeman was a little home cooking. It didn't hurt the Eagles played an offensively-challenged Locust Grove team too. Nevertheless, the Wildcats were just what the doctor ordered and the eagles took advantage.

For the first time in four years, this space is being used to write about Eastside in a different way. Usually it's a playoff game story. After the Eagles failed to make it to the postseason, it's about what went wrong in 2011.

Eastside athletics have thrived since the school dropped down to Class AAA four years ago - especially volleyball and softball. Two players in particular have been around to see it all. Amanda Hawkins and Katie Johnston both arrived on campus in 2008. Over the past four years, they've played a pivotal role in the softball and volleyball teams' success.
Eagles fall to Henry County 34-24, miss postseason
Despite all that went wrong for Eastside leading up to Friday's winner-take-all season finale at Henry County, the Eagles still had a shot at the playoffs. Late turnovers proved to be too much to overcome though and the Warhawks will be the region's fourth playoff team after a 34-24 win.

Eastside travels to Henry County for its season finale and the Eagles have a very simple goal. Win. If they do, they'll make a return trip to the Class AAA playoffs for an unprecedented fourth straight year. But it won't be easy.
At least Eastside doesn't have Tim Tebow
Eastside football may have its problems this year. Injuries and suspensions, a talent drain on the offensive line and a new quarterback come to mid. But at least the Eagles don't have to deal with what the Denver Broncos are going through with Tim Tebow.

Grounded: Eagles lose third straight
Big plays doomed Eastside again. For the second straight week, the Eagles gave up a long rushing touchdown in the first quarter, quarterback Cameron Boyd had an interception returned for a touchdown and the Eagles lost an important region game, this time falling to Stockbridge 21-3.
