Johnston Birmingham bound
Eastside High School senior and star volleyball player Katie Johnston signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Birmingham on Monday. Johnston chose the University of Birmingham specifically because it allows her to spend her January semester next year for a month in Nicaragua.

After running cross country for Eastside for the last four years Chrissie McLemore will take her talents to Brewton Parker for the 2012-13 season. McLemore was the Eagles' captain during her senior season and will now move on to Brewton Parker to help build the Barons' team.

The Lady Eagles of Eastside played to a hard-earned 2-2 tie with the Lady Bulldogs of Morgan County Monday night at Cousins Middle School. Amber Lafond opened the scoring with a goal off a throw-in from Emily Carroll seven minutes in to put Eastside (10-6-1) up 1-0. Morgan County (8-3-1) tied the match 7:29 before half time.
