For three former Eastside Eagle softball players, their on-field careers are quickly approaching the final inning. Four years ago, Eagle teammates Amanda Hawkins, Taylor Causey and Erin Steele were seniors looking forward to their 2012 graduation day and nervously anticipating what awaited them in the fall when they would each begin playing softball for their respective colleges. Each had already celebrated their accomplishment of receiving a college scholarship earlier in the year with a signing day ceremony surrounded by family, friends, coaches and teammates.
A four-year varsity starter, Morgan Green served as captain three years and led Eastside in goals scored as a sophomore and in assists her sophomore and junior years. Green was named second team All-Region as a sophomore and first team All-Region as a junior.
The Eastside Lady Eagles (7-3, 3-3 4AAAA) dominated possession and play in their 3-1 win against the Henry County Lady War Hawks (1-7, 1-5 4AAAA) in soccer action Wednesday night. The victory, however, did not come easy.

The last time Eastside and Walnut Grove high schools basketball teams met up, the Eagles floundered a 16-point second half lead and lost by four. This time wasn't much different as the Warriors turned the Eagles' 39-30 lead to dust in a 51-47 Walnut Grove win.
It's been an eventful week for Eastside boys basketball. Isaiah Miller scored his 1000th career point in the first quarter against Locust Grove on Thursday and on Friday the Eagles get a well-deserved win over rival Newton, 71-64.
