It was business as usual for the Eastside Eagles, as Madison County came to visit Sharp Stadium. The Eagles offense went to work early and often, defeating the Red Raiders 38-10 as Eastside improved to 2-0 on the season.
First-year Eastside head coach Troy Hoff earned his first career victory with a 41-0 thrashing of Alcovy to open the season. Hoff has been with the team for a decade and finally got his chance to be a head coach after Rick Hurst left to coach Pepperell. The coaching staff awarded Hoff the game ball.
Tyrik Francis sort of fell into soccer accidentally. At around the age of four, Tyrik and his mother, Nicole Isaacs, met a group of people while playing t-ball and they informed Isaacs that the YMCA had soccer. Isaacs, who is Carribean, decided to let Tyrik play.
Philip Davidson began his tenure as the new Eastside Athletic Director this week as they held a signing for Eagle soccer player Tyrik Francis. Davidson takes over for former EHS Athletic director Dr. Bruce McColumn, who transferred to Alcovy to take the same position.

On May 29 Eastside High School had nine students leave for Chicago to represent the state of Georgia in the High School National Championship Academic Bowl. Eric Adams, the teacher at Eastside went with them plus Dave Gregory, another parent.
