Aubree Thacker has been selected as the Alcovy Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 22. Thacker's bat was on throughout the entire week. Thacker had five hits and scored two runs against Rockdale and Newton this past week.

Tigers rolls past Newton

In what was likely a preview of the region championship, Alcovy (15-3-1, 8-0 Region 2-AAAAAA) traveled to Newton (9-14, 5-2 Region 2-AAAAAA) in a battle for sole posession of first place in the region. For the second time this season, Alcovy capitalized off Newton's mistakes to take a big lead and never look back, defeating them 7-0.

One man highlight reel

It represents the top performers from the six schools throughout the two counties for the 2011 football season. As always, it's never easy choosing who deserves to make such a list.
