Lady Tigers DROP Lady Rams

Up until Friday, Newton hadn't lost a region game all season. They traveled down the road to face region opponent and county rival Alcovy on Friday, and Friday night the Lady Tigers ended the Lady Rams' unbeaten region record.

Pick & roll: Sears to Hodges

The pick and roll is such an astoundingly simple play, yet it can be the foundation of a team's offense and it can be virtually impossible to stop. Under head coach David Baker, the Lady Tigers use the pick and roll to get their offense going almost exclusively. Still, teams have trouble stopping it.

Lady Tigers knock off Newton/NHS boys win big

The last time the Lady Rams and the Lady Tigers played, Newton won on a putback buzzer beater from Alexcia Chatman at home. This time Alcovy's girls didn't let the game come down to one final shot as they used the second half to run off to a 60-51 victory over Newton, giving Newton its first region loss of the season.

A year (semester) in review

Changing the CULTURE

On Friday night, the Alcovy Tigers basketball team welcomed South Gwinnett to town. Going into the game, Alcovy was looking to get its first win of the season. Despite Alcovy playing with outstanding effort, once against they came up short, losing 64-54.

Lady Tigers advance to 1-1 in region play

The Lady Tigers of Alcovy got their first win in region 2-AAAAAA this season on Friday evening. It wasn't an easy one by any means, as the Lady Wildcats of Lovejoy gave them all they could handle. But, Alcovy fought it out, and displayed some toughness with a 51-46 win over Lovejoy.

Madison Beazley and Autumn Evans signed full scholarships to play softball and attend Andrew College on Friday. The two had an enormous amount of support, as they continue their journey to college.

Lady Tigers impress

Junior Wimbush easing into leading role with Lady Tigers

It hasn't been a smooth transition at times this season for the Alcovy girls varsity basketball team, but if the effort and attitude displayed by junior guard Ayanna Wimbush are any indication, then the Lady Tigers aren't down in the dumps – they're eager to get better. Wimbush, a junior who helped to pace the Lady Tigers to a 22-7 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in region play a season ago, has had to take on a more demanding role than the one she held in the past.
