Betty J. Mallett, of Covington, passed away January 10, 2014, at the age of 82. A homemaker and mother of three, she loved her family dearly. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary and was involved with the Women's Club and PTA. She enjoyed amateur art and gardening. Mrs. Mallett was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Lelia (Harrison) Martin; and brothers, Wayne H. Martin and James Martin.

Mrs. Margaret Blomberg, age 92, of Conyers formerly of Stone Mountain passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was born July 22, 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Ebenezer and Margaret Barrie Bauchop. Mrs. Blomberg retired at age 72 from Bank of America. After her retirement she worked for ten years as the church secretary at Prospect United Methodist where she was also a member. Saleta Lunsford, age 70, a lifelong resident of the Covington and Social Circle area passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014. She was born in Porterdale on July 27, 1943 to the late Horace and Magnolia Barnes Lunsford. Saleta retired from Bellsouth and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Mr. Elisha "Junior" Hardy, age 79, of Covington passed away at his residence Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was born October 8, 1934 in Jasper Georgia to the late Elisha Frances and Lillie Mae Carter Hardy. Mr. Hardy was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed gardening, animals, especially feeding the fish in the pond behind his house, and enjoyed going to flea markets and thrift stores. James Allen Rowland, 24, passed away Jan. 3. He was born in Atlanta. He worked as an engraver for Tony's Trophies in Suffolk, Va., and attended Southside Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Henry Allen Tatum; paternal grandparents, Brenda Sue Rowland and Jack Howard Rowland; and aunt, Deborah Lynn Tatum.
Mr. James H. Fountain Sr., 76, of Covington, formerly of Decatur, died Feb. 10. The son of the late George Rains and Rossie Iona Wood Fountain, he was born in 1932 in Lake City, Fla. Mr. Fountain retired from Goldkist after many years of service and was employed with Publix after his retirement. His favorite hobby was spending time with family, especially his grandson. Mr. Fountain proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War.

Chance in 1961 and became a partner in the Chance & Maddox Firm. George (Stump) Cown, age 70 of Loganville passed away Jan. 30, 2009. Mr. Cown was a longtime member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church and was a member of Grayson United Methodist Church. Mr. Cown graduated from Grayson High in 1956, served in the U.S. Navy for two years and retired from AT&T and C.R. Bard Medical in Covington. After retirement, he became known in the Grayson Community as "Santa" to many children.
Mr. James Perry Atkinson, 65, of Madison, died Jan. 12 at his home. The son of the late Herman and Louise Jones Atkinson, he was born in Morgan County in 1943. Mr. Atkinson served in the United States Navy and later worked in sales of construction supplies. Mr. Atkinson was currently employed by Hallman Wood Products in Eatonton. Mr. Atkinson enjoyed fishing and wood working and restoring antique tractors.

Mr. Roger L. Smith Sr., 79, of Conyers, died Jan. 21. The son of the late Homer and Ethel Matthews Smith, he was born in Duvall County, Fla., in 1929. Mr. Smith was retired from Eastern Airlines as an inspector and was a member of American Legion Post 77. He was preceded in death by son Roger Smith Jr.
