Mrs. Jean Miller, 83, of Covington, passed away April 3. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching them play. Mrs. Miller loved spending time with her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Miller; father Walter Bell; mother Cordie (Smith) Bell; step-father Rhodie Bailey; sisters Emma Hawse, Erma Broughman, Beulah Martin; and brothers Averille Bell, Alvie Bell, Roy Bell and Berlin Bell.
Mr. Hobert T. L. Davenport, 90, of Covington, passed away April 3. Mr. Davenport was born in Blue Ridge, the son of John and Lula (Ray) Davenport, and moved to Covington with his family in 1927. Alex Cooper, age 21, of Covington passed away March 29, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 10, 1991 and grew up in Covington. Alex was a 2010 graduate of Alcovy High School and currently attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. He served his country in the United States Army and was currently employed with Publix in Conyers. Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Frances Minor and Robert and Janet Cooper.
Mr. Charles Eugene "Gene" Gadilhe, 88, of Covington passed away March 28. Mr. Gadilhe was born in Ensley, Ala., to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gadilhe.

Lloyd Milas "Bo" Lyda, 26, of Oxford, passed away March 22. He was a 2005 graduate of Newton County High School and attended Georgia Perimeter College after he graduated. He enjoyed fishing, singing and performing in plays. His favorite music was country. He loved animals, especially cats.
Mrs. Betty McKinley Bagwell, 83, of Social Circle, passed away March 21. She moved to Social Circle in 1965 from Decatur. She worked as a cashier for Food Giant Grocery Store and retired after 19 years of service.
Mrs. Jeanette Adams Zeigler age 91, a lifelong resident of Newton County, died Thursday, March 12, 2009. She was born on July 17, 1917 to the late Hugh C. and Mary Mitchell Adams. Mrs. Zeigler was a member of Newborn United Methodist Church and was a retired teacher from the Newton County school system. She was a literacy advocate and started the library in Newborn. She also started the Historic Preservation Society for the Child's building.
Dean Skinner, 48, of Jackson, formerly of Conyers, passed away March 7. Mr. Skinner was a truck driver with city Relocators/Red Ball Express, Morrow. Surviving are wife Nancy L. Holly Nanette Purdy of Covington died Feb. 20 at St. Joseph['s Hospital. Born in Atlanta in 1952, she was the daughter of the late Konrad and Martha Parr Purdy. Miss Purdy was a graduate of the University of Georgia where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. After graduation she worked for Delta Airlines as a flight attendant and retired after 31 years of service. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Covington, Athens Junior League and the Covington Garden Club.
