Mr. Douglas J."Jackie" Dial

Mr. Douglas J. "Jackie" Dial, 68, of Oxford passed away July 14, 2012 at Newton Medical Center. He was born January 24, 1944 in Covington to the late Frances Jackson and Mary Lou Townley Dial. Mr. Dial was a true craftsman in every sense of the word, he enjoyed woodwork, metal craft, gardening and painting were just some of his passions along with his love of animals and fishing. He was a mechanic by trade and retired from ADF after 16 years of service.

Mr. Pate Massey age 87 of Covington died Friday, July 13, 2012 at Abbey Hospice. He was born in Homer, Georgia on March 6, 1925 to the late Charles and Ada Massey. He proudly served this great country in the United States Navy and was retired from General Motors-Lakewood Plant after 35 years and he was a Jack of All Trades. Kathryn Reeves House, RN, 79, of Covington, passed away July 11. Miss House was a 1950 graduate of Newton County High School, and a 1953 graduate of Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing. She was one of the first registered nurses for Newton County Hospital when it opened. She later went to work for Dr. E.J. Callaway, and was his nurse for 37 years, until retirement. Millard "Buddy" Rowe, 87, of Newborn, passed away July 2. Buddy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served his country during World War II.
