Mr. Randall Allen, 60, of Oxford passed away Oct. 21. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his father James Melvin Allen. Mr. William Harold Lawson Jr., 60, of Covington passed away Oct. 25, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Porterdale to William Harold Lawson Sr. and Clara Butler Lawson.

He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and worked for 22 years as a parts salesman for Courtesy Ford. He loved his yard and enjoyed working in the yard and cooking for his family.

Ms. Geneva Rhodes was born in Newborn on Dec. 1, 1951 to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy (Lula Hart) Rhodes. She was the fourth of their six daughters. Four sisters Rosie Rene, Selema, Bertha Lee and Charlene preceded her in death.

Mrs. Inez Phillips Bowen, 88, of Covington, died Oct. 9. The daughter of Oscar and Omie McCart Phillips of Porterdale, Mrs. Bowen was a direct descendant of Noah Phillips who established the first textile mill in Newton County at Cedar Shoals (now Porterdale). She was an avid golfer, owned and operated a hair salon in Covington for many years, and was a member of the North Covington United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Joel T. Bowen Sr. and an infant son Billy Thomas Bowen.
