Mr. Joseph Pervines McCord III, 74, of Covington, passed away April 6. He loved his family and grandchildren, dearly, and enjoyed going on family vacations. He also loved his Harley and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Pervines McCord II and Pansye Wilson McCord; stepdaughter Cindy Lynn Bunn; stepson Daniel George Wishner; sister Barbara Gibbs.
Mr. David Henry Coberth, 68, of Covington, died April 4, at Newton Medical Center. He was born on Nov. 14, 1944 in Fall River, Mass., to George Horace and Elizabeth Himelspagh Coberth, both of whom preceded him in death.
Ms. Ann Elizabeth Irick Spencer of Snellville, died peacefully in her sleep April 5, at The Mews of Social Circle retirement home. She was born on Dec. 23, 1924 on Toler Creek, Ky., to Albert Sidney and Loutisha Keathley Irick.
Mrs. Jean Miller, 83, of Covington, passed away April 3. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching them play. Mrs. Miller loved spending time with her granddaughter and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Miller; father Walter Bell; mother Cordie (Smith) Bell; step-father Rhodie Bailey; sisters Emma Hawse, Erma Broughman, Beulah Martin; and brothers Averille Bell, Alvie Bell, Roy Bell and Berlin Bell.
Mr. Hobert T. L. Davenport, 90, of Covington, passed away April 3. Mr. Davenport was born in Blue Ridge, the son of John and Lula (Ray) Davenport, and moved to Covington with his family in 1927. He drove a gas truck while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. One of the highlights of his military career was meeting General George Patton. Before going into service, Mr. Davenport met and married Margie Louise Davis, and together they were blessed with two sons, John and Jerry. Alex Cooper, age 21, of Covington passed away March 29, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 10, 1991 and grew up in Covington. Alex was a 2010 graduate of Alcovy High School and currently attended Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. He served his country in the United States Army and was currently employed with Publix in Conyers. Alex was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Frances Minor and Robert and Janet Cooper.
Lloyd Milas "Bo" Lyda, 26, of Oxford, passed away March 22. He was a 2005 graduate of Newton County High School and attended Georgia Perimeter College after he graduated. He enjoyed fishing, singing and performing in plays. His favorite music was country. He loved animals, especially cats.
Mrs. Betty McKinley Bagwell, 83, of Social Circle, passed away March 21. She moved to Social Circle in 1965 from Decatur. She worked as a cashier for Food Giant Grocery Store and retired after 19 years of service.
Mr. Joe Hoyt Brewer, age 64, of Mansfield passed away March 22, 2013 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to James Hoyt and Mae Pitts Brewer on September 3, 1948. Mr. Brewer enjoyed working with his hands and could build anything. He loved spending time with his family and working in his garden.
