Ms. Sally "Sandy" Anne King Pitts, 69, of Conyers, passed away peacefully at her home, June 17. She lived life to the fullest the past two years despite the recurrence of cancer. Ms. Pitts was a faithful member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, where she actively participated with the Daughters of the King and Altar Guild. She also served as a Lector, Vestry member and Lay Eucharist Minister. Recently, in 2012, she completed the Education for Ministry program with The University of the South School of Theology.
Mrs. Jean Conner Davenport, age 83, a lifelong resident of Newton County passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. Mr. Tommy Joe Hardy of Jackson died June 2 at Atlanta Medical South. He was born in 1949 in Porterdale to Perry L. and Florine Woods Hardy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. He was a dirt track champion at Senoia and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Tessie Oleta Smith, age 78, devoted wife and mother, passed away June 1, 2013 after a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease at her home in Jackson, Georgia. Born on May 28, 1935 in Apple Farm, West Virginia to the late John Frank and Maude Elizabeth Campbell. Tessie was a loving wife to Major Dennis Ray Smith who predeceased her on June 19, 2011, having been married for 54 years at the time of his passing.
Mrs. Doris T. Williams, 86, of Oxford, passed away May 30. Mrs. Williams was an active member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed working with the youth at her church and both the local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Patricia "Patty" Louise Johnson Umphrey, 86, of Covington, died May 30. A native of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Umphrey lived most of her life in the greater Atlanta area. A homemaker, she was a lifelong Southern Baptist with membership, recently, at Zion Baptist Church in Covington and, formerly, at Rainbow Park Baptist in Decatur and White Oak Hills Baptist in Atlanta and Stone Mountain.
