Betty J. Mallett, of Covington, passed away January 10, 2014, at the age of 82. A homemaker and mother of three, she loved her family dearly. She volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary and was involved with the Women's Club and PTA. She enjoyed amateur art and gardening. Mrs. Mallett was preceded in death by her parents, William T. and Lelia (Harrison) Martin; and brothers, Wayne H. Martin and James Martin.
Marshalene Cromer Love, of Covington, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Piedmont Hospital. She was born June 1, 1937, in Royston, Ga., to Jim and Gertrude Cromer.
Mrs. Margaret Blomberg, age 92, of Conyers formerly of Stone Mountain passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was born July 22, 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Ebenezer and Margaret Barrie Bauchop. Mrs. Blomberg retired at age 72 from Bank of America. After her retirement she worked for ten years as the church secretary at Prospect United Methodist where she was also a member. Saleta Lunsford, age 70, a lifelong resident of the Covington and Social Circle area passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014. She was born in Porterdale on July 27, 1943 to the late Horace and Magnolia Barnes Lunsford. Saleta retired from Bellsouth and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. Mr. Elisha "Junior" Hardy, age 79, of Covington passed away at his residence Wednesday, January 8, 2014. He was born October 8, 1934 in Jasper Georgia to the late Elisha Frances and Lillie Mae Carter Hardy. Mr. Hardy was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed gardening, animals, especially feeding the fish in the pond behind his house, and enjoyed going to flea markets and thrift stores. He owned and operated Hardy's Citgo in Social Circle for many years. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Kay Hardy and his grandson Andy Harville.
James Allen Rowland, 24, passed away Jan. 3. He was born in Atlanta. He worked as an engraver for Tony's Trophies in Suffolk, Va., and attended Southside Baptist Church. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Henry Allen Tatum; paternal grandparents, Brenda Sue Rowland and Jack Howard Rowland; and aunt, Deborah Lynn Tatum.
Mr. Kas Kusmider, age 65, of Loganville passed away January 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Germany on January 30, 1948 to the late Boleslaw and Sophie Kusmider. Kas served in the United States Army, he worked as a police officer in Minnesota and worked as a truck driver for Brown Trucking in Lithonia. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Conyers.
Earl Elsworth Goddard, 91, of Decatur passed away Nov. 19. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country as a paratrooper during World War II. Mr. Goddard was of the Southern Baptist faith and cherished his time reading his Bible. He enjoyed meeting new people and talking about horses. Mr. Goddard was a strong, independent man who loved life and his family, especially his wife Mary and his daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents John Sheldon and Rua Mae (Hull) Goddard, his sister Opal and his wife Mary.
James Daryl Ford, age 59, of Mansfield, passed away after a two-and-one-half year battle with cancer.

Margaret Anderson, 64, of Covington, passed away Nov. 2 at home, following a long battle with cancer. Ms. Anderson owned and operated numerous beauty salons in Covington. She had a passion for helping others and often volunteered to assist anyone in need. Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie T. and Ella (McCord) Osborn and her brothers, Roy Osborn, Robert Osborn, Clark Osborn and Junior Osborn.
Catherine Thorp, of Covington, died Nov. 24, at The A.G. Rhodes Home -- Cobb. The daughter of the late Lewis Sullivan and Maude Nutting Leach, she was born in 1919, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Covington and the Covington Woman's Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family.
Shane Kenny, 34, of Rockdale County, passed away suddenly November 25, 2013. Shane was a 1997 graduate of Rockdale County High School, and lettered in both baseball and football during his high school career. His love for sports led him to coach youth baseball, in Newton and Rockdale counties, and he has influenced the lives of so many while coaching. He enjoyed watching professional and college sports, but most important to him were his children. He was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Bill Brantley, age 79, of Covington passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013. He was born February 10, 1934 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late William Thomas and Margaret Taylor Brantley. Mr. Brantley served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated with a degree as an Industrial Engineer. After graduating he worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. Raburn Lee Crawford, of Covington passed away Nov. 21, 2013 at the age of 80. He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a dedicated employee of Bonded Service Warehouse for 47 years. He was thankful for all his blessings, his home and especially his family, whom he loved dearly. He enjoyed shopping at yard sales and pawn shops. Mr. Crawford loved gardening, giving vegetables away and riding his grandchildren on his farm equipment.
Joseph Frank Lawson Jr., 82, and his wife, Margaret Elizabeth (Seidel) Lawson, 86, died at their home in Shady Dale, November 19, 2013. They were married 66 years, and together they instilled in their children the values of hard work, honesty and faith in the true God Jehovah. Mrs. Lawson was a devoted wife and mother and an ideal sister to Eugene M. Seidel of Portland, Ore.
Ronald Lee Dimery, of Oxford, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, at the age of 78. He met and married the love of his life, Dottie, at Florida State University, and they were married for 58½ years. Mr. Dimery was an accomplished residential and commercial architect, winning multiple awards for historic preservation. He dearly loved his family and his country. Anabel was the daughter of the late Leon and Irene Bleckley of Clayton, Georgia. Anabel is survived by her brother Dr. James Bleckley of Anderson, South Carolina, her daughter Anna Donaldson of Oldsmar, Florida, her son Robert Bickford of Dallas, Texas, and her daughter Candace Wagner of Covington, Georgia. Dr. Charles Samuel Frady, husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and mathematician, passed away on November 13, 2013. Born on September 30, 1937, in Sylva, N.C., to Sarah and Ellis Frady, and one of 11 brothers and sisters,Charlie began life with meager circumstances. At the age of 3, Charlie was stricken with polio, but this tragic diagnosis turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Instead of dropping out of school to work in the town mill, Charlie was able to finish high school, and thus began his journey toward higher education.
