Jeffery Keith Broxton, Sr., of Covington, passed away January 4, 2015, at the age of 56. Jeff was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Eatonton, until his sickness prohibited from attending. He supported all church activities, but missions were closest to his heart. Once diagnosed with ALS, Jeff's main focus was leading as many people to Christ, as possible. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather, who was a dedicated family man and always cared more about his family and friends than himself. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, David C. Broxton, Sr.
Virgil Young Cook Eady, Jr. passed away at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 2, 2015. He was born at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, on December 8, 1935. Mr. Eady was a fifth generation resident of Oxford, Georgia, and a fourth generation graduate of Emory University. As a youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and reached the rank of Eagle Scout. Della Astin Kitchens, 93, of Porterdale, passed away peacefully January 2, 2015. Della was an active member of Porterdale Baptist Church prior to her declining health. She retired from Bibb Manufacturing after 35 years of service and was member and past president of Porterdale Woman's Club. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. She lived a very full life and was deeply loved by her family and many friends, who will miss her greatly. Richard P. "Ricky" Heath, of Covington, passed away January 2, 2015, at the age of 52. Ricky enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming and woodworking. In addition, he loved carpentry and building things. Ricky was fun loving and well-liked. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Alice Heath; and brother, Kemp Heath.

Jean Babington Remley, 98, passed away peacefully at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle December 31, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. Born November 22, 1916 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Remley was a resident of Covington since 1939. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph M. Remley (Joe). Survivors include one daughter Jeannette R. Harris and son-in-law, Ned Harris of Monticello, and one granddaughter Sharon Jean Kinman-Hall, and husband Rod Hall of Lawrenceville. She is also survived by two great grandchildren Chase Remley Hall and Avery Leigh Hall.

Mr. Henry Starr Corley, of Covington, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born February 19, 1921 in the Starrsville Community of Newton County to the late William H. Corley, Sr. and Leila Wright Corley and was also preceded in death by his brother, William H. Corley, Jr. and sister, Katheryn Corley Mills. Mr. Corley was a surveyor for the Georgia Department of Transportation and a veteran of the United States Army Airforce. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Mr. Kenneth Felton "Tump" Bradford, age 74, of Oxford passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was born November 3, 1939 in Lawrenceville to the late William Howard and Jewell Lindsey Bradford. Mr. Bradford served in the United States Navy and was a member of Central Community Church. He was retired from General Motors and also worked for a number of years following his retirement at General Mills. Mr. Bradford loved to work in his garden and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Fincannon and his grandson Tucker Hankins.
Marilyn McKay Ellisor, age 71, died Friday October 3, 2014, in her home in Watkinsville, after a valiant year-long confrontation with cancer. During her last days and hours she was comforted by family, many friends and the capable staff of Silverleaf Hospice.
G. Orville Capps of Covington, passed away October 1, 2014, at the age of 88. Mr. Capps was a member of County Line Baptist Church. He was a dedicated employee, of the City of Covington, where he worked several years prior to his retirement. Prior to his employment with the City, Mr. Capps worked for Gas, Inc. Reuben Yearwood, age 79, of Covington, passed away September 30, 2014. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and going fishing. Mr. Yearwood loved his family dearly, and especially cherished his time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howard and Lovie (Chambers) Yearwood.
Ralph William "Bill" Hoffman passed away in his Covington home, September 30, 2014, at the age of 90. Mr. Hoffman was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church, in Covington, where he also served as past chairman of the Board, Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the Intermediate Department.
Mildred "Mrs. Millie" Maloy, a lifelong resident of Porterdale, passed away September 27, 2014, at the age of 95. She was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and the Porterdale Woman's Club. Mrs. Millie was known for her sharp mind and quick wit, and therefore gained the nickname, "The General." She loved her family dearly and especially cherished her role as a grandmother. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family. Mrs. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Maloy; parents, Leo and Candace Shaw; and her brother, Marshall "Pete" Shaw.
Annelle Townsend, of Oxford, passed away Sept. 26, 2014 at the age of 82. Married to Grady Townsend for 59 years, the couple honeymooned in Daytona, and visited there every year around their anniversary. Mrs. Townsend enjoyed shopping, but most of all she loved being with her family. She was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church in Conyers and will be remembered as a great cook – always preparing more than enough. Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sally Mae Davis; brothers, Buford Davis, R.H. Davis; and sister, Willene Royal.
Vera K. Stalvey, of Covington, passed away September 26, 2014, at the age of 94. Mrs. Stalvey lived in Rome, GA until she moved to Covington in 1975. She was a member of Covington Church of God in Covington, and a former member or East Rome Church of God, where she taught Sunday School. Mrs. Stalvey enjoyed quilting, crocheting and ceramics, but her focus was being a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norwood A. Funeral services for Opal O'Dell Graves, 91, of Murphy, North Carolina., were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. The Reverends Edward Carter, Fred Lunsford and Jim Ross officiated. Following the service, interment was in the church's cemetery. She died on Monday, September 15, 2014, after an extended illness.

Elmer "Mo" Blankenship, Sr. 87, of Oxford, passed away on September 23, 2014 at Newton Medical Center. He was born on May 29, 1927 to the late Mindy Smith Blankenship. Mr. Blankenship was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Covington where he served as a deacon. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was one of the founding members of the Newton County Touchdown Club. Mrs. Driver was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend; a good Christian woman who was a member of Sardis Congregational Church and attended Gaither's United Methodist Church and Porterdale Presbyterian Church. She loved nature, flowers and was an Atlanta Braves fan. Mrs. Driver was a private duty nurse who sat with many families during extended illnesses; she was loved by everyone who knew her.
