Mary Louis Cunningham, of Covington, passed away at the age of 78. Mrs. Cunningham was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Philadelphia Eagles. She enjoyed collecting jewelry and cooking. Mrs. Cunningham especially loved baking cakes and delivering them to family, friends and local businesses. Because of her love for animals, she was a faithful supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Mrs. Cunningham cherished the time she spent with her family. She was preceded in death George Robert Cunningham, her husband of 54 years; and parents George and Mary Jane Bankler.
Emma Jean Presley Petty, 81, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Piedmont Newton. She was born in Eatonton to the late Walker and Lillie Mae Strange Presley. Emma was preceded in death by her husband Billy Petty.
Timothy Owen Tyler, 48, of Covington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 13, 2015. He was the loving son of Gail Tyler of Covington; deeply devoted father to his children, Chantz and Madison Tyler; a newly proud grandfather to Madison's son, Brayden; and a loving brother and uncle to Dane Tyler and his family, all who survive him and all of Covington.
Robert Sullivan of Covington, passed away December 15, 2015, at the age of 92. Mr. Sullivan, a Purple Heart recipient, honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He recognized his family as his greatest accomplishment in life. Mr. Sullivan was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church, in Covington, for more than 60 years. Martille T. Floyd, a lifelong resident of Newton County, passed away December 7, 2015, at the age of 95. Mrs. Floyd retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company after 37 years of dedicated employment. Following her retirement, she continued working 11 years at Covington Moulding. Mrs. Floyd faithfully attended Porterdale Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly, and cherished the time they spent together. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Floyd; parents, Carl and Jettie (Moon) Thomas; and her sister, Geneva Garrett.
Vianne Kelly Peay of Oxford passed away December 12, 2015, at the age of 57. A devout Christian, Vianne enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading, following politics and spending time with her children and grandson. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in English from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. In addition, Vianne was a supporter of Georgia and Newton County 4-H and the Arts Association in Newton County, where she volunteered her time. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Kelly; as well as her maternal grandparents, Roy and Viola Bagwell.
Doby E. White, 86 of Covington, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at home. He was born in Decatur to the late Oscar and Annie Lou Doby White. Doby graduated from SW DeKalb High School in 1946 where he was selected the "Most Quiet" of his class. He was a standout baseball player. Doby was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Doby was a self-employed dairy farmer for most of his life with his brother George. In his later years, he was employed as a guard at Hercules and an avid vegetable gardener.
Coach Wilbur "Bo" Fisher, 79 of Oxford, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Emory University Hospital. He was born in Porterdale to the late JC and Willie Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters.
