Mr. Henry Starr Corley, of Covington, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born February 19, 1921 in the Starrsville Community of Newton County to the late William H. Corley, Sr. and Leila Wright Corley and was also preceded in death by his brother, William H. Corley, Jr. and sister, Katheryn Corley Mills. Mr. Corley was a surveyor for the Georgia Department of Transportation and a veteran of the United States Army Airforce. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd.
Mr. Kenneth Felton "Tump" Bradford, age 74, of Oxford passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014. He was born November 3, 1939 in Lawrenceville to the late William Howard and Jewell Lindsey Bradford. Mr. Bradford served in the United States Navy and was a member of Central Community Church. He was retired from General Motors and also worked for a number of years following his retirement at General Mills. Mr. Bradford loved to work in his garden and loved his family very much. He was preceded in death by his sister Gloria Fincannon and his grandson Tucker Hankins.
Marilyn McKay Ellisor, age 71, died Friday October 3, 2014, in her home in Watkinsville, after a valiant year-long confrontation with cancer. During her last days and hours she was comforted by family, many friends and the capable staff of Silverleaf Hospice.

He was a dedicated employee, of the City of Covington, where he worked several years prior to his retirement. Prior to his employment with the City, Mr. Capps worked for Gas, Inc. Reuben Yearwood, age 79, of Covington, passed away September 30, 2014. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and going fishing. Mr. Yearwood loved his family dearly, and especially cherished his time spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Howard and Lovie (Chambers) Yearwood.
Ralph William "Bill" Hoffman passed away in his Covington home, September 30, 2014, at the age of 90. Mr. Hoffman was a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church, in Covington, where he also served as past chairman of the Board, Sunday School teacher and superintendent of the Intermediate Department.
Mildred "Mrs. Millie" Maloy, a lifelong resident of Porterdale, passed away September 27, 2014, at the age of 95. She was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and the Porterdale Woman's Club. Mrs. Millie was known for her sharp mind and quick wit, and therefore gained the nickname, "The General." She loved her family dearly and especially cherished her role as a grandmother. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family. Mrs. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Maloy; parents, Leo and Candace Shaw; and her brother, Marshall "Pete" Shaw.

Mary A. Leasure, formerly of 933 Rosedale Avenue, Kingston, Tennessee, age 84, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl "Lucky" Leasure, in 1997. She moved to Atlanta in 2003 to join her children, daughter Barbara Leasure and son-in-law Dr. Michael Henry; son Steven Leasure, and daughter-in-law Holly and their son, Adam; and son Michael Leasure and daughter-in-law Dr. Renee Butler and their children, Matthew and Christopher Leasure. She lived independently in Conyers, Georgia, until May 2013 when she joined Steve, Holly and Adam in Douglasville.

Betty Christian Thomas, 84, of Covington, passed away September 8, 2014. Mrs. Thomas was a faithful member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. She was very active in various church functions, and was a member of the church choir for several years. She was a longtime, dedicated employee of Steele-Jones Insurance Agency in Covington. Mrs. Thomas enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ralph Thomas; parents Frank Buford and Ellen Ruth (Cowan) Christian; sisters Mary Beth Steele, Jean O'Neal; and her brother, Frank E. Christian.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Castellaw Funeral Home's Jonquil Chapel in Smyrna, Ga. She is survived by her husband, Dean Smith; children Nancy Stephens, Brenda Clifton and Thomas Armstrong; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and one grandson.
Rebecca "Ann" Reid, 69, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at her home. She was born May 4, 1945, in Porterdale to the late Clarence and Allie Durden. Mrs. Reid was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all. But most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church. Mrs. Reid is preceded in death by siblings Pauline Dial, Frances Sockwell and William "Bill" Durden.
In a small house on the corner of a narrow street resting in the shadows of the Old Covington Mill, a child was born on a cold November day to a lady named Grace. It was 1938, and with little fanfare the child was wrapped in a blanket and placed in the bosom of a loving mother.
