Robert Sullivan

Robert Sullivan of Covington, passed away December 15, 2015, at the age of 92. Mr. Sullivan, a Purple Heart recipient, honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He recognized his family as his greatest accomplishment in life. Mr. Sullivan was a faithful member of County Line Baptist Church, in Covington, for more than 60 years. Martille T. Floyd, a lifelong resident of Newton County, passed away December 7, 2015, at the age of 95. Mrs. Floyd retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company after 37 years of dedicated employment. Following her retirement, she continued working 11 years at Covington Moulding. Mrs. Floyd faithfully attended Porterdale Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly, and cherished the time they spent together. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Floyd; parents, Carl and Jettie (Moon) Thomas; and her sister, Geneva Garrett.

Vianne Kelly Peay of Oxford passed away December 12, 2015, at the age of 57. A devout Christian, Vianne enjoyed knitting, gardening, reading, following politics and spending time with her children and grandson. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in English from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. In addition, Vianne was a supporter of Georgia and Newton County 4-H and the Arts Association in Newton County, where she volunteered her time. Doby E. White

Doby E. White, 86 of Covington, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at home. He was born in Decatur to the late Oscar and Annie Lou Doby White. Doby graduated from SW DeKalb High School in 1946 where he was selected the "Most Quiet" of his class. He was a standout baseball player. Doby was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Doby was a self-employed dairy farmer for most of his life with his brother George. In his later years, he was employed as a guard at Hercules and an avid vegetable gardener.
