Jacquelyn (Jackie) Jones Wood

Jacquelyn (Jackie) Jones Wood, 70, of Covington, passed away Sept. 7, at her daughter's home in Cumming. Mrs. Wood was a loving wife and mother who loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. It could be said she was a full-time grandmother. She was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Harwell and Hazel (McClure) Jones and her brother, James Harwell Jones.

Janet H. Jackson of Covington, passed away Sept. 5, 2013, at the age of 77. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law. She was affectionately known as J.J. by her grandchildren and cherished her time spent with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hillman Jackson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hackett; sister, Rebecca Hackett Dowdy; and her brother, John Hackett. The family of Mrs. Jackson is especially grateful to the loving caregivers at Longleaf Hospice and Right At Home.

The Rev. James "Jimmy" Edwards of Covington passed away Sept. 6, 2013, at the age of 81. Jimmy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He exhibited a quality of unconditional love that is admirable while caring for his beloved wife, Betty. He loved all of the churches he pastored and attended. He pastored Canaan Baptist, Mt. Zion two different times for a total of 12 years, Annie Mary Baptist, Ebenezer Baptist, Stewart Baptist, and at the time of his death, he attended Stewart Community Church.

Mrs. Kay Young, age 61, of Shady Dale, GA passed away September 5, 2013. She was born November 13, 1951 in Pikeville, Tennessee to the late Newton and Frances Ritchey. Mrs. Joyce Ann Morton, 82, of Covington, died Aug. 28. She enjoyed traveling, being outdoors tending her flowers and shopping. She retired from Lithonia Lighting after 31 years of service and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Morton loved her family and the many friends she came to know through her job and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C.
