Della Astin Kitchens, 93, of Porterdale, passed away peacefully January 2, 2015. Della was an active member of Porterdale Baptist Church prior to her declining health. She retired from Bibb Manufacturing after 35 years of service and was member and past president of Porterdale Woman's Club. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. Jean Babington Remley, 98, passed away peacefully at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle December 31, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. Born November 22, 1916 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Remley was a resident of Covington since 1939. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Joseph M. Remley (Joe). Annie Laura Conner Darby Chesnut was born Jan. 18, 1918 in Morgan County to Emory E. and Beverly L. Blasingame Conner. She was first married to Olin Lemuel Darby who died in 1945 leaving her with a 5-year-old son and expecting a second son in October. She remained a widow and sole support of her children until 1950 when she married Charles Stewart (Chink) Chesnut. They moved to Chesnut Farm on Chesnut Road where their son Charles was born. She resided there until Chink died and her health declined.
