Rev. Garland Stone of Oxford passed away June 18, 2014, at the age of 71. Rev. Stone founded and served Full Gospel Holiness Church for 35 years, where he loved his church family as his own. He enjoyed woodworking, going to auctions and visiting Amish country. Rev. Stone was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, father and papa, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Robert and Frances (Palmer) Stone; and his brothers, Phillip Stone, Kennedy Stone and Larry Stone.

George T. Day, Sr., 76, of Covington, passed away June 17, 2014. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Oxford. Day Tree Service, established in 1969, was the first tree service in Newton County. Mr. Day owned and operated his tree service while working for Lithonia Lighting for 21 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and boating. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his family and treasured his time with them. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Annie Lois (Woodruff) Day.

For 38 years, Mrs. Rowland dedicated herself as a school teacher in Newton, Rockdale and Cobb counties, taking short breaks only to raise her six boys. Charles F. (Chuck) Adamson

 Charles F. (Chuck) Adamson, of Conyers, died October 17, 2008, at Rockdale Medical Center, at the age of 73. Son of the late William Otis, Sr. and Anna Lois Jones Adamsom, he was a U. S. Navy veteran and a retired service technician from Southern Bell. Mr. Adamson was the seventh child, of the seventh child, of the seventh child, and each of his names had seven letters. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post #5290 in Conyers, Christian Motorcyclist Association (Grace Riders), XYZ Senior Group, and AARP of Covington.

Al Cordell, 81, of Covington, died Oct. 10. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Cordell was a member of the Porterdale Moose Club and Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church. John L. "Rookie Cordell, 82, of Covington, died Oct. 7. A World War II veteran, Mr. Cordell was an avid golfer and great baseball player. He enjoyed playing the guitar and had a talent for construction work. Mr. Cordell was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. Lynn Hall Loyd of Covington, passed away Oct. 6, at the age of 60. Born at Crawford Long Hospital in 1948, she attended Kirkwood Elementary School and was a 1967 graduate of Southwest Dekalb High School. An employee with Lithonia Lighting for 25 years, she enjoyed fishing, playing slot machines, making her own music CD's, and cooking - but above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Loyd was preceded in death by her daughter, Kandi Jeanette Mitchell; parents, James and Phyllis Jakes Hall; and her pet, Max.
